Grooming Update: The End :(

Hello all! It is unfortunately that time of the season. We held on as long as we could, but the past few weeks of sunny warm weather and little precipitation have taken their toll. Groomers will be packing up signs and picnic tables this week and beginning to close up shop. We hope you enjoyed the winter season and we thank you for supporting and skiing at Spring Gulch! Au revoir! (Of course, the gate will still be open for anyone who wants to brave the mud and grass to ski the last of the upper trails!)

Grooming Update: 3/9/17

Spring skiing is in full effect! Groomers freshened up skate lanes this morning on all workable trails. The classic track from Tuesday is still intact in some places, however mostly icy and glazed from high temps. Closures: Big Dipper, Rodeo, lower Lazy 8, Roundabout hill. We recommend heading up Bulldogger or Little Dipper to enjoy the upper trails! We have a short window, from 9:30-11:30am, to groom, so we'll be doing what we can every day to keep the skiing going. Skiing is great late morning and late afternoon. Enjoy the t-shirt weather!

Grooming Update: 3/7/17

Today, groomers were able to finish rolling AND set new classic track on most trails! Downed trees were also cut and moved, so trails should be all clear. Closures are still in effect for Big Dipper, Roundabout hill, Rodeo, and the lower side of Lazy 8. Take advantage of these last few ski days while you can! Hope to see everyone tomorrow night at DOS for the screening of the CRMS documentary on Spring Gulch! Starts at 6:30pm.

Grooming Update: 3/6/17

Interesting conditions up at Spring Gulch right now. Groomers arrived this morning to 6" of new snow! Which is wonderful, except that after Sunday's rain and warm temps, the new snow is sitting on top of a thick, solid sheet of ice. We attempted to roll the new snow in this morning, but our machines we're having a lot of trouble getting around on the icy base. We managed to roll most trails, apart from Highball, Sidewinder, Rodeo, Big Dipper, and Out & Back. Strong winds last night also brought down several large aspen trees on Northstar and Finlandia. They were too big to move or use a handsaw on, so we will be up tomorrow with a chainsaw to take care of them. Until then, the southern portio

Grooming Update: 3/4/17

Good morning! Groomers will be up this morning to freshen up skate lanes. We are leaving the classic track as is, for the time being, and will let you know if we reset. (High temps would cause the new track to be immediately icy.) Trail closures are still in effect for Rodeo, lower Lazy 8, and Big Dipper. All other trails are skiing great, although we do recommend fish scales for classic skiers. Some precipitation is rolling in tomorrow. NOAA is calling for a chance of rain during the day, then possible snow Sunday night and Monday. We'll hope for the latter. Stay tuned here!

Grooming Update: 3/2/17

If there ever were a time to drop everything and go skiing at Spring Gulch, IT IS NOW! Trails are in amazing condition, thanks to the past few days of perfectly stormy and cold weather. Classic track has been set on most all trails and is skiing really well. Skate lanes were groomed fresh this morning and we will continue to buff them out every day. A few trail closures remain in effect: Rodeo, Big Dipper, and the lower side of Lazy 8. Full sun and high temps are in the forecast through the weekend, so get out and enjoy these conditions while they last!
